Position Summary:
Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors. Manage the process of acquiring, renewing and upgrading major donors on an annual giving cycle. Work with and support Senior Major Gifts Officers in developing significant major and leadership gifts.
Position Elements:
- Identify, cultivate and solicit donors and prospects for major gifts utilizing written solicitations and phone follow-up, outreach events, face-to-face meetings, special events and other methods. Goal is a minimum of $400,000 in annual fund gifts each year.
- Participate actively in a major gifts unit working toward common financial goal, and implement strategies to acquire, renew, upgrade and steward donors.
- Collaborate with the Annual Fund Team to identify new major donor prospects and cultivate them to achieve major gift status.
- Participate in planned giving program and solicit planned gifts when appropriate.
- Strategically manage requests from assigned donors and prospects requesting upgrades to existing subscriptions at both Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.
- Attend and assist with donor events, including winter and summer performances, galas, artist salons, etc.
- Ensure appropriate processing and tracking of gift transmittals and donor acknowledgement and recognition.
Position Requirements:
- 3+ years development experience with at least 1 year in major gifts, consistently meeting goals and performance objectives with demonstrable ability to plan and implement fundraising solicitations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and demonstrable professionalism dealing with high-end board members and volunteers
- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills and ability to effectively multi-task and meet deadlines
- Exceptional customer service orientation and high ethical standards
- Motivated, pro-active, results-oriented with ability to deliver results in complex, fast paced environment
- Team-oriented style with track record of respecting co-workers and volunteers and dealing with conflict smoothly and effectively
- Ability to use computer (Word, Raiser’s Edge, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Understand budgets and budgeting process
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
