Live from Walt Disney Concert Hall — LA Phil releases sixth iTunes album

Live from Walt Disney Concert Hall

As part of the iTunes/Deutsche Grammophon Concerts series, the Philharmonic has released an exclusive live recording of one of the 2006/07 season's highlights — the U.S. premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's recent composition, Helix. The program, recorded on March 30th at Walt Disney Concert Hall, also features a performance of Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, with soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Salonen conducting a suite from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. The new iTunes release brings to six the number of live LA Phil concerts available for download, including recent performances of Beethoven's 5th, 7th, and 8th Symphonies, as well as Gustavo Dudamel's unforgettable January 2007 performance, leading the Philharmonic in Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra, which reached #1 on the classical charts!
