We're Ready for Our Kansas City Debut!

Tonight's performance inside Helzberg Hall marks the LA Phil's first-ever Kansas City concert! We're already loving it here ... And not just because of the BBQ special delivery.

Reporter Patrick Neas wrote about our big arrival, our beloved Gustavo Dudamel and our sonic connection in the Kansas City Star:

Dudamel’s home in Los Angeles is Frank Gehry’s stunning Walt Disney Concert Hall. Yasuhisa Toyota, who designed the acoustics for Disney, was also the acoustician for the Kauffman Center. With its sound fine-tuned for Toyota’s aesthetic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic should sound stunning in Kauffman’s Helzberg Hall.

“I’m looking forward to going to Kansas City and to being there and to enjoying the hall,” Dudamel said in a recent phone interview. “It’s like a brother or sister of Disney. I have been working a lot with Yasuhisa Toyota on the hall that we have in Caracas, Venezuela. He has been charged to help us improve the acoustics.
