Composer Fellowship Program

The Los Angeles Philharmonic will be accepting applications for the 2009-2011 Composer Fellowship Program.

This innovative two-year program is designed to help young high school composers develop the necessary skills to achieve excellence in music composition. Program is designed by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Stucky - the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Consulting Composer for New Music and administered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The Composers Fellowship Program is an intensive after-school composition training program for select young composers in high school. Eligible applicants must be entering grades 9, 10, or 11 and must live in Los Angeles County. All classes, rehearsals, and concerts will take place at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Select fellows will:

  • Receive up to 20 private and group composition lessons with Los Angeles Philharmonic guest composers.
  • Attend seminars presented by Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians on building a better understanding of the orchestra.
  • Learn directly from, music arrangers, film composers, and publishers.
  • Hear their music led in class sessions by Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians or teaching faculty.
  • Attend Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts and rehearsals at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
