Enhancing your concert experience: Pre-Concert Conversations and Lectures
These intimate conversations and lectures will deepen your understanding of the repertoire. Hosted by todayís leading music scholars this illuminating series features interviews with composers, conductors, guest artists and members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Upbeat Live events are free to ticket-holders and are offered one hour before Philharmonic concerts, concerts by visiting orchestras, Green Umbrella concerts, organ recitals and Baroque concerts.
Program Includes:
- Lectures, offering insight into the music through historical and cultural context, music theory, and guided listening
- Q & A with Guest Artists and & LA Phil musicians
- Interviews with Guest Artists & LA Phil musicians
All Upbeat Live pre-concert events include either live or recorded music and some involve multi-media components such as video or image projection.

- Podcasting: patrons can access past Upbeat Live events via online podcasts after the concerts.
Please note: Not available for Friday matinees. Casual Fridays TalkBacks
Casual Fridays series concerts, which encourage audience and orchestra members to attend in comfortable clothes, are shorter programs that feature TalkBack, a lively discussion with musicians and guest artists held onstage right after the concert. Additionally, audience members can join Orchestra musicians in the Walt Disney Concert hall cafÈ for post-show beverages and meet-and-greet.
