The 2014 Take a Stand Symposium will explore the question, ‘How can we empower students to take control of their futures?’ Together we will investigate how we can best draw forth and nurture student leadership and citizenship. Attendees will:
Learn from El Sistema programs around the world who are approaching similar challenges with elementary, middle and high school students in creative ways.
Engage in interactive classes, keynote lectures, labs and discussion groups on different aspects student empowerment.
Perform music with members of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Symposium attendees, and students from U.S. El Sistema-influenced programs in a side-by-side open rehearsal.
