Violin

First-round piece: Please prepare at least seven minutes of one classical piece of your choosing (may be more than one complete movement) to perform for the judges. You must perform this piece unaccompanied.

Young Artists Competition

  • Applicants should have at least three years of experience playing their instrument.
  • Applicants must not be older than 18.
  • Applicants must be current public high school students in Los Angeles County.
  • An accompanist will be provided for the final round of the competition.
  • The final-round piece must be memorized. This piece must be prepared in its entirety for the final round on March 31.

MAXIMUM AGE LIMIT: 18 YEARS OF AGE


Young Artists Competition

  • Submission of an application does not ensure an invitation to participate in the awards competition.
  • Applicants who are invited to audition will be notified by mail, telephone, or email by January 23, 2011.
  • Audition times will be assigned. We will make every effort to grant specific audition times upon request.
  • Applicants will be notified of audition times by mail, telephone, or e-mail.
  • Preliminary auditions will be held in Choral hall at Walt Disney Concert Hall, 151 South Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The final-round will be held on the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall. Auditions will be held March 26.
  • Applicants will not be able to use sheet music for the final round, but will be able to look at sheet music for the preliminary round.
  • Applicants should be prepared to perform at least 7 minutes of music from one piece for the first-round audition. This may be more than one movement. Applicants will be expected to perform the movements they choose in their entirety.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to make binding decisions in all cases and to withhold awards.
