The Los Angeles Philharmonic celebrates each of its season openings with extraordinary events that have become the city's proudest cultural traditions. Set in two iconic concert venues, these exciting parties raise significant operating funds which support the LA Phil and its education initiatives.

The Opening Night at the Hollywood Bowl benefit concert raised over $1 million for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s music education programs, which serve more than 120,000 youths, families and teachers every year.

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Walt Disney Concert Hall in a star-studded evening honoring the vision of Frank Gehry. The spectacular Opening Night Gala, featuring Yo-Yo Ma and video installations by artist/director Netia Jones, was a grand tribute to the LA Phil’s first decade at Walt Disney Concert Hall with music by Cage, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Adès, Mahler and Saint-Saëns. The concert came to a dramatic conclusion as silver stars rained down on the audience while the LA Phil played tribute to Lillian Disney with “When You Wish Upon A Star.” The Gala evening continued on Grand Avenue with dinner and dancing under a galaxy of stars.
