Whether they are bringing students to Walt Disney Concert Hall or bringing music out to the schools, the Affiliates work hard to make sure that the children of Los Angeles are introduced to beautiful music.
Music Mobile™: an award-winning program that has reached over half a million students. The Music Mobile travels to schools and community events with instruments, CDs, and visual aids that the Affiliates use to introduce third graders to classical music and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 2005, the Affiliates established a similar program at the Hollywood Bowl in conjunction with a tour led by the Speakers Bureau.
Symphonies for Schools: a program where the LA Phil brings close to 13,000 school children to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for 4 days each winter. Affiliate volunteers from all Committees donate their time to greet and organize the children.
Toyota Symphonies for Youth: concerts geared towards families as the LA Phil weaves storytelling and music in a fun morning for both children and adults alike. Prior to the concert, the Hall buzzes with activity as educators and volunteers conduct music education activities like Dance, Theater, and Arts & Crafts. Also, outside in the Blue Ribbon Gardon, the Affiliates’ Music Mobile program welcomes children to their Instrument Petting Zoo where they may try their hand at the violin or make some noise with the snare drum.
Junior Patrons: launched in 1990 for children ages 5-11, this program encourages a closer relationship between families and the LA Phil during TSFY concerts. Members enjoy many great benefits including a Junior Patron t-shirt, membership card, and invitations to rehearsals and Meet the Artist events.
