Foothill Philharmonic Committee
Foothill Philharmonic Committee is celebrating its Fiftieth Anniversary this year with celebrations and historical lore at meetings and programs. It is with great pleasure that we have enjoyed fifty years of success supporting the Los Angeles Philharmonic!
Enhancing our community's interest in and access to concert music is the first goal of our committee. We currently provide three distinct services with that goal in mind:
- Fun-Filled Friday and Sunday Concert Series. Foothill members and members of the community purchase special season subscriptions that include bus transportation from our area to the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
- Sunday Night Live. Each year we sponsor a chamber music recital by Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians. The event is followed with a reception and conversation with the musicians providing an intimate musical experience.
- Youth Programs. We provide two hundred free tickets, and bus transportation when needed, for school children from our area to attend the outstanding Toyota Symphonies for Schools, Saturday symphonic presentations, along with related activities at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Volunteers from Foothill Committee always help with the Symphonies for Schools programs. Also, our organization gives the First Place Prize to the winner of the Bronislaw Kaper Award, a competition, alternating years of strings and piano, for young musicians.
Our second goal is fundraising for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. To this end, we have a successful "Friends" letter writing campaign each year. We also stage fundraising social events throughout the year.
Our third goal is to enable our members to enjoy first class music in our own community and share each other's companionship. We draw from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and other talented musicians to entertain at our meetings.
