AARON ISHIBASHI is currently a freshman at the University of Southern California, studying music composition at the Thornton School of Music. His musical journey began when he became a student of the violin at the age of four. During high school, he was given the unique opportunity to study both violin and composition with Michael T. McLean at The Colburn School of Performing Arts. The Journey for String Orchestra and Piano enjoyed its world premiere when performed by The Colburn String Orchestra at their Spring Concert on May 3, 2009. Subsequently, Aaron became a fellow of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2-year Composer Fellowship Program during the 2009 - 2011 session. As part of this program, he had two orchestral pieces premiered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra: The Fortress in February 2010, and Through These Trials in April 2011. Upon graduation from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) in June 2011, Aaron received the Henry Mancini Memorial Scholarship in Music Composition, as well as the LACHSA Alumni Association Scholarship. Overall, it is Aaron’s dream to pursue composition in film, video games, musical theater, and the concert hall.
