About The musician
Horn
Principal
WILLIAM LANE joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as a principal Horn in 1973 and has won outstanding recognition in the Southland since that time. His many solo performances with the Orchestra include appearances at Hollywood Bowl and Music Center subscription concerts. In addition, Mr. Lane has been featured in concerts on the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Music Society series.
The Missouri-born musician began playing the horn when he was ten but, surprisingly, received no formal instruction until he entered the University of Kansas. Mr. Lane graduated form the New England Conservatory of Music, where his principal teacher was James Stagliano. He subsequently played solo horn for the Buffalo Philharmonic for six years prior to coming to Los Angeles. While living in the East, he appeared as soloist with the Boston Symphony.
