ASADOUR SANTOURIAN – Vice President for Artistic Administration and Artistic Advisor for the Aspen Music Festival – came to Aspen in 2003. For the festival, he has developed artistic initiatives that include creative themes informing the annual Aspen Music Festival programming and thematic mini-festivals.
Previously Artistic Director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam, he has conceived and edited several Dutch-language program books on the music of Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Valery Gergiev.
He is a member of the Recommendation Board of Avery Fisher Career Grants and has served on several jury panels, including the Dublin International Piano Competition, the Barlow Endowment, Young Concert Artists, and Princess Christina Concours. From 1991 to 2000 he was the Minnesota Orchestra’s Director of Artistic Planning. His programming of contemporary music, both in Aspen and Minneapolis, has been distinguished with a number of ASCAP awards.
