About the performer

Brian McKnight

Brian McKnight

BRIAN MCKNIGHT has earned himself a spot in contemporary music history. He has released 11 albums to date, and 7 of them have gone platinum – with several of those going 2- and 3-times platinum – and has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

Brian has received numerous awards, including Soul Train awards and Image awards, and numerous nominations, including Grammys, MTV Video Music awards, BET awards, and American Music awards.

With seemingly endless talent and vast industry knowledge, Brian has also hosted the red carpet for Extra!, and has seen success in musical theatre. In 2005 he toured with the production of Cheaters, and in 2007 he stepped back onto Broadway with a run as Billy Flynn in Chicago. In 2006 McKnight created the score for Daddy’s Little Girls, the Tyler Perry film, and released the album Ten that same year.

Brian is currently hosting Soul Session Countdown with Brian McKnight on BETJ, and has co-hosted The Brian McKnight Morning Show for 2 years on 94.7 KTWV The Wave, a smooth jazz radio station in L.A. In 2008, a second radio show, The Brian McKnight Show, took over the airwaves and is currently syndicated on ABC radio coast to coast.

Brian’s most recent project is his new weekly late night talk show. The Brian McKnight Show premiered in September 2009 in over 200 markets. The show is a one-hour entertainment showcase featuring the hottest celebrities and personalities from the world of sports, acting, popular culture and music. Distributed nationally by The Litton Group, this show is interactive, with Brian encouraging fans to log in online and send questions to Brian and his guests.

Fans of Brian’s music can also take a deep breath; his album, Evolution of a Man, was released September 2009 on E1 Music. The album features duets with Stevie Wonder and Jill Scott, and the first single, “What I’ve Been Waiting For,” features a reggae sound that McKnight has never done before. The album also features the ballads that he is best known for.

As if that weren’t enough, Brian’s sons Brian Jr. & Nikolas are following in their father’s footsteps and released their first album in the fall 2009, under the name “McKnight.” The album is self-produced, and the boys have been touring with their dad and can been seen on stage with Brian for most live performances.
