Seventeen-year-old violinist ILYA GRINGOLTS has already established himself as an exciting new artist. In 1998, he won First Prize at the International Paganini Violin Competition as well as a special prize for the best interpretation of Paganini’s Capriccio. He has given performances throughout Russia including engagements in the great halls of St. Petersburg and Moscow, and has toured Italy, France, Great Britain, and Scandinavia. He made his North American debut in July 1999 performing with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa under the baton of Pinchas Zukerman. His first album, Paganini, was released in March 1999. Most recently he has participated in the Perlman Music Program where he came to the attention of Itzhak Perlman, and with whom he continues to work as time allows. Gringolts makes his Hollywood Bowl debut this summer.
