About the performer

Los Angeles Chamber Choir

LOS ANGELES CHAMBER CHOIR, a professional choir comprised of thirty or so Christian singers, is dedicated to the very highest quality of choral music and various community outreach programs for the people of Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. The purpose of the choir is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by promoting the joy of choral music, with the emphasis on church music, in our community through seasonal concerts and charitable performances that educate and entertain children and adults.

Since founded in 2005, Los Angeles Chamber Choir has diligently reached out to the community by way of semi-annual concerts, guest performances at various church events throughout the Greater Los Angeles area, and voluntary programs to provide joy and hope for the homeless and battered and underprivileged children. Most recent performances include the Summer 2011 Concert Tour; the Mass in B Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach in December 2010; the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé and Mass of Saint La Salle by Ron Nelson in April 2010; the Handel:Messiah concert in December 2009; and the Beethoven Ninth Symphony in October 2009 at Hollywood Bowl for the welcoming concert for Dudamel Gustavo, the music director of L.A. Philharmonic.

Los Angeles Chamber Choir is currently led by director/conductor Chung Uk Lee, chairman Scott Oh, and business manager Irene Yim. Chung Uk Lee is currently the conductor of choir at Young-Nak Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles and has consistently demonstrated his passion for the sacred music and to reach out to the community.

During his period of study at USC, he was awarded a full scholarship and also he was assistant conductor of the University Chorus and taught choral conducting.

As a singer, he has precise pitch and a warm, rich voice and he has sung in many concerts. He sang the role of Kezal in Smetana’s Prodna nebesta with the USC Opera, and Handel’s Messiah, Kodaly’s Budvari Te Deum, two late Haydn masses, J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, and Verdi’s Requiem at USC.

He is the conductor of the Los Angeles Chamber Choir, Elders Choir of Southern California, California Children’s Choir and Young-Nak Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles. He is currently teaching voice at Azusa Pacific University and choral music at Shepherd University.
