A Dutch actress who has high-level working experience almost forty years in Dutch and Belgian Theatre. She trained early 70s at the Amsterdam Theaterschool. She then worked as a theatre maker and actress in all kinds of productions. Modern theatre and repertory theatre. She was working with many companies. Such as Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Independent Theatre Rotterdam, Toneelhuis Antwerpen, Toneelschuur Haarlem. She is acting in playwrites from Harold Pinter, Henrik Ibsen, Edward Albee, Thomas Bernhard, Tom Lanoye, Jon Fosse, Samuel Beckett. She played the leading parts in the internationally renowned Proust Cyclus from topdirector Guy Cassiers. And she played the title role in the movie Emma Blank by major Dutch filmer Alex van Warmerdam. She also makes contemporary performances together with her partner, the Belgian composer/cellist Jan Kuijken.
Marlies Heuer was awarded several times. She received twice Theo D'Or for best female lead of the season. In 1998 for her role as Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen and in 2012 for the Mother in Am Ziel by Thomas Bernhard. In this season she is playing Beckett. She got several five star reviews for her portrayal of Winnie in the classic Happy Days.
