Mitch Hanlon Singers
The MITCH HANLON SINGERS have sung with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since 1992 on three recordings, two tours to Japan, and dozens of memorable concerts here at the Bowl. They were the chorus for last year’s Carousel production, and are happy and proud to be back for Show Boat. This group that specializes in the repertoire of musical theater has also performed with Marvin Hamlisch and the Los Angeles Philharmonic here. Other venues for the Singers include the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Irvine Barclay Theater with Judy Collins and most recently were heard at a sold out Arrowhead Pond with Sarah Brightman.
In concerts or recordings for the Hollywood Bowl, the Mitch Hanlon Singers have sung with Julie Andrews, Patti LuPone, Jonathan Pryce, Patrick Stewart, Davis Gaines, Paige O’Hara, Jodi Benson, Tyne Daly, Lea Salonga and Lynn Redgrave. They have performed music from My Fair Lady, The King and I, Oklahoma, Ragtime, Titanic, Chorus Line, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Girl Crazy, and The Sound of Music.
The founder and director, Mitchell Hanlon, is the Assistant Conductor for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and has assisted Maestro John Mauceri since the orchestra began here ten years ago. A conductor of operetta and musical theater, he has performed extensively throughout the Los Angeles area, having made his Hollywood Bowl conducting debut in 1996, and his European conducting debut doing Candide in Turin Italy in 1997. He currently teaches voice and musical theater at the University of Southern California and California State University, Fullerton.
