About the composer

Ricardo Dal Farra

RICARDO DAL FARRA has been composing extensively using electroacoustic medias in his music and is internationally recognized for his works. His music has been played at symposia and festivals in more than 40 countries, and he has received commissions, grants, and awards from the International Computer Music Association, Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges-France, the Rockefeller Foundation, the National Rostrum of Composers from Argentina, CSC-Universita di Padova-Italy, the National Endowment for the Arts of Argentina, CCRMA-Stanford University, International Arts Biennial of Sao Paulo-Brazil, and the Daniel Langlois Foundation from Canada.

Dal Farra is head of the Multimedia Communication program at INET - National Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Argentina, working on the development of national standards for multimedia education. He developed several educational programs crossing arts, sciences and technology including the Multimedia Communication Technical Vocational Pathway being established on all Provinces of Argentina, the Musical Production specialty for high school level, Audiovisual Arts and Techniques for the college level and recently the Electronic Arts degree for the university level.

Dal Farra is also Professor of Composition and Improvisation at the National University of San Martin, Professor of Music Technology and Electronic Arts at the National University of Tres de Febrero and Professor of Acoustics and Electroacoustic Music at the Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires and the National Conservatory of Music of Argentina.

Since 1988 he has produced a radio series devoted to electroacoustic/computer music broadcast by the National Radio of Argentina and the Municipal Radio of Buenos Aires. Recently he produced a special Latin American electroacoustic music series webcasted by The Banff Centre of Canada.

Recordings of his music appear on editions by O.O. Discs, Computer Music Journal, The Aerial, Contemporary Music Review, CDCM-Computer Music Series, Circe, IRCO, National Endowments for the Arts of Argentina, Bonk, Argentina Music Council, Pogus, Frog Peak Music, and other labels.

He was also curator of CDs with electroacoustic music by Latin American composers edited by Computer Music Journal (2000), O.O. Discs (1988) and Leonardo Music Journal (1994).

Dal Farra is member of the editorial board of Leonardo Music Journal - International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology since 1995 and is Advisory Editor of the Journal of New Music Research (formerly Interface) since 1988.

At present Mr. Dal Farra is also consultant for UNESCO's new project on digital arts, and is building a musical archive and writing a history of the electronic music in Latin America.
