WHAT:             

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel kicks off his two-week return to the Hollywood Bowl, summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with an exciting series of shows that pair Dudamel with revered cellist Yo-Yo Ma on Tuesday, August 7, and with prodigious pianist Yuja Wang on Thursday, August 9. In what is becoming an annual summer tradition, Gustavo Dudamel also continues to share his passion for opera in a special, one-night-only performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto on Sunday, August 12, featuring an international cast led by baritone Željko Lučić, in his signature role as the hunchbacked court jester doomed by a sinister curse.

These performances lead up to Gustavo Dudamel’s Americas and Americans festival at the Hollywood Bowl from Tuesday, August 14, 2012 to Sunday, August 19, 2012. With a long-standing belief that barriers can be broken through art, Americas and Americans brings to life Dudamel’s global vision of a multi-cultural community unified by music. This boundary-blending celebration of music welcomes to the Hollywood Bowl Juan Luis Guerra, Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, Sergio Tiempo, Juanes and Plácido Domingo.
