WHAT:
The Los Angeles Philharmonic’ second LA Phil LIVE concert of the season featuring the LA Phil and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela performing Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, “Symphony of a Thousand,” will be broadcast live from Caracas, Venezuela, and shown in Canadian theatres on Saturday, February 18, at 2 p.m. Pacific/5 p.m. Eastern. In this performance, audiences will experience the dynamic Gustavo Dudamel making music on his home turf with more than 1,000 musicians on stage, and hosted by award-winning actor John Lithgow. Soloists include Manuela Uhl, soprano 1; Julianna Di Giacomo, soprano 2; Kiera Duffy, soprano 3; Anna Larsson, alto 1; Charlotte Hellekant, alto 2; Burkhard Fritz, tenor; Brian Mulligan, baritone; Alexander Vinogradov, bass; and the National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela.

This exceptional presentation is the climactic performance of the LA Phil’s Mahler Project – one of the pillars of the orchestra’s season – which features the composer’s complete symphonic cycle presented in both Los Angeles and Caracas.

LA Phil LIVE is produced as a collaboration between the LA Phil and NCM Fathom, a division of National CineMedia (NCM) and Cineplex Entertainment.

LA Phil LIVE with Gustavo Dudamel from Caracas, Venezuela is an immersive sight and sound experience, featuring a full concert performance with the LA Phil and Dudamel, broadcast live from Caracas, Venezuela. The concert is seen in more than 400 theaters across the U.S. and 26 theatres in Canada, and the broadcast also includes behind-the-scenes interviews with Dudamel, the LA Phil musicians, rehearsal footage and a live post-concert Q&A with Dudamel.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, under the vibrant leadership of Gustavo Dudamel, presents the finest in orchestral and chamber music, recitals, new music, jazz, world music and holiday concerts at two of the most remarkable locations anywhere to experience music – Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.
