Mission: The Southwest Heights Philharmonic Committee is a volunteer support Philharmonic Affiliates group. The mission of the Southwest Heights Philharmonic Committee is to support and promote the Los Angeles Philharmonic through fundraising and audience development. Our Affiliate group works to help establish a more diverse audience and volunteer base for the LA Philharmonic. The committee seeks to encourage an understanding of and an appreciation for symphonic music among the communities of Southwest Los Angeles. Our service area includes the communities of Baldwin Hills, Baldwin Vista, Crenshaw Manor, Culver City, Inglewood, Jefferson Park, Ladera Heights, Leimert Park, Marina Del Rey, Playa Vista, View Heights, View Park, Westchester, and Windsor Hills. A major emphasis of the Southwest Philharmonic Committee is to fund Los Angeles Philharmonic youth music education programs in the communities of Southwest Los Angeles.
Organizational Goals: 1) To fulfill commitment of financial donation to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a goal which we meet with the wonderfully successful annual "Stay At Home Tea"; 2) To provide volunteer service to the Los Angeles Philharmonic – particularly for the Toyota Symphonies For Youth programs, the Symphonies for Schools programs, and the annual Grand Avenue Festival; 3) To provide support for music education programs – including annual donations to a) L.A. Philharmonic School Partner – Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES); b) Loyola Village Elementary School; and c) scholarship support to the SouthEast Symphony Association Conservatory; 4) To encourage an understanding of and an appreciation for symphonic music among the communities of Southwest Los Angeles; 5) To add new members, particularly those recruited at our annual Membership Concert.
