The Hollywood Bowl Patroness Committee

The Hollywood Bowl Patroness Committee was formed in 1948 by a group of women who were active community leaders. The intent of the committee was to establish a support and public relations group for the world famous Hollywood Bowl.

The committee holds two general meetings each year and an annual honoree dinner to which guests are invited. Among the honorees are: Mary Costa, Richard Crooks, Ernest Fleischmann, Lukas Foss, John Green, Jascha Heifetz, Bronislaw Kaper, Henry Mancini, John Mauceri, Leonard Pennario, Gregor Piatigorsky, John Raitt, Paul Salamunovich, Michael Tilson Thomas, Roger Wagner and John Williams.

Over the years the Patroness Committee has been responsible for positive community relations and significant assistance to the Bowl with funds raised at our annual party and individual donations contributing to the upgrading of many of the Bowl's facilities, including:

  • Refurbishing the Hollywood Bowl Volunteer Cottage
  • Recovering the chairs in the Bowl boxes
  • Providing a custom control console for the stage
  • Remodeling and upgrading the conductor and artist dressing rooms
  • Donating boundary layer microphones for the stage to complete the high quality acoustical system
  • Sponsoring the publication of the history of the first seventy-five years of the Hollywood Bowl entitled The Hollywood Bowl, Tales of Summer Nights
