At the center of the “Ghost” Trio is the ominous slow movement that gave the piece its nickname. The music comes by its eerie and mournful character logically enough: it is based on sketches for the witches’ scene in a Macbeth opera Beethoven was planning at the time.
Masterpieces of the Romantic chamber repertory.
The rarely heard Clarinet Quintet by the wonderfully prolific and idiosyncratic Max Reger - plus the pre-concert wine reception!
