About This Performance

John Corigliano’s First Symphony, inspired by the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt, memorializes friends and colleagues of his. In stark contrast, Brahms’ Second is cheery and pastoral, and was composed with blazing speed compared to Brahms’ First Symphony.
