About This Performance
Gustavo Dudamel and LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen are quite different musicians, but that they also share much common ground, and this program finds Dudamel exploring typically Salonen turf. The Rite of Spring became a signature piece for the LA Phil under Salonen, and Steven Stucky was associated with the orchestra for all of Salonen’s tenure as its Music Director; they gave the world premiere of his Pulitzer Prize-winning Concerto for Orchestra No. 2 in 2004.

As you may have heard, both sides of the 10-mile stretch of the 405 freeway between the 10 and the 101 will be closed starting at 7pm on Friday, September 28, through 6am on Monday, October 1. Traffic conditions on local streets and connecting freeways are expected to be severe. To help keep your visit to Walt Disney Concert Hall a pleasant experience, please plan your trip in advance, monitor real-time traffic conditions before you leave and consider alternate routes. Additionally, the Los Angeles Triathlon will pass by Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday morning, September 30. The streets near WDCH will be cleared by Noon – but it would be easiest to approach the Music Center from the freeways, avoiding surface streets from the south.
