About This Performance

Tan Dun premieres have become eagerly anticipated events since his powerful and poignant score for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon won an Oscar, and the LA Phil has participated in several. Almost tactile in its manipulation of fresh sounds, his music is rivetingly theatrical and ritualistic, freely mixing Eastern and Western instruments and styles.
