For the final Green Umbrella concert of the season, John Adams leads several premieres by up-and-coming composers including Missy Mazzoli, one of “the most consistently inventive and surprising composers now working in New York” (The New York Times); Gabriel Kahane, a 29-year-old musical polymath invested equally in the worlds of concert, theater and popular music; and Andrew Norman whose popular and exciting Gran Turismo for eight violins was heard here in 2009/10. Steven Mackey’s work is a four-movement double concerto for violin, electric guitar and string orchestra.
