About This Performance

The Seoul-born Berlin resident, Unsuk Chin has a knack for binding together seemingly irreconcilable extremes. Her music is modern in language, but lyrical and non-doctrinaire in communicative power, colored by her affinity for non-European music, her occupation with electronic music, and her fascination for polyrhythmic virtuosity. Her Violin Concerto won the Grawemeyer Award, one of the most prestigious in music.
