Each youth orchestra will have a 40-minute set on March 8. Tickets are free and open to the public. Patrons are able to pick up tickets at a table on Grand Avenue in front of WDCH 60 minutes prior to each orchestra's performance. See below for the complete schedule for the event.
On March 8, 2009, between noon and 5pm, LA Philharmonic presents Youth Orchestra Festival Day, back-to-back performances that showcase four local youth orchestras. Featured youth orchestras include Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, CSUN Youth Philharmonic, Olympia Youth Orchestra, and Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra. These youth orchestras, in addition to four others, are in the Youth Orchestra Partners Program, a two-year partnership with the LA Phil that affords established Los Angeles-based youth orchestras coaching sessions and master classes with LA Phil musicians, concert tickets to WDCH and the Hollywood Bowl, and the opportunity to perform on the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall. The first concert of this kind took place in the fall of 2007 as a part of our International Youth Orchestra Festival.
