The second of Schubert’s two great song cycles on Wilhelm Müller’s poems, Winterreise (Winter Journey) is a profound and dramatic setting of 24 poems that are dark and full of despair. To experience this work of genius, a towering masterpiece of art song, in the hands of these discerning artists is a rare and wonderful opportunity.

Baritone Matthias Goerne joins pianist Christoph Eschenbach for Winterreise and Die schöne Müllerin, plus a program of orchestrated Schubert songs and the “Great” C-major Symphony, with Eschenbach conducting. There will be an all- Schubert chamber music concert with LA Phil members.
