Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony has been compared to Beethoven’s Fifth in its trajectory from tragedy to triumph, and it has served Gustavo Dudamel well. He has recorded it to wide acclaim, and it capped the program when Dudamel made his U.S. debut at the Hollywod Bowl in 2005.
Rising star Alisa Weilerstein joins Dudamel for Tchaikovsky’s delightful homage to the 18th century and his idol Mozart, a piece she played here two years ago as part of the Piatigorsky International Cello Festival.
Alisa Weilerstein will be signing CDs at the LA Phil Store following her performances on February 27th and March 1st.
