Part of SY2 Toyota Symphonies for Youth 2
About This Performance
10am arts workshop
Discover what it is about Maurice Ravel's impeccable style – especially his use of dancing rhythms – that have kept us tuned into his magical works for nearly a hundred years.
Come for: Each TSFY concert is a dramatic presentation, conducted by a Dudamel Conducting Fellow and staged by theater artists. Prior to the concert there are interactive art workshops related to the program's musical themes.
And more: A tour de force of orchestration, Bolero is a long, slow crescendo over a steady rhythmic ostinato. It has become a cultural icon, beginning with the 1934 Paramount film and continuing through other films and TV shows to ice dancing and pop makeovers from artists such as Rufus Wainwright and Angélique Kidjo.
