Toyota Symphonies for Youth: The Hero Composer

Last Modified:

About This Performance

The ultimate family event, combining fun and fantasy, makes the LA Phil part of your child’s wonderful world. Led by the LA Phil’s Dudamel Conducting Fellows and directed by theater artists, Toyota Symphonies for Youth will give your children (ages 5-11) the opportunity to create memories they’ll never forget.

Everyone has a story. And every story has its own music – if you can only find it. But where to look?

Come explore how the composer can be a hero in our lives. The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Dudamel Conducting Fellow David Afkham explore excerpts from Beethoven’s dramatic Third Symphony (the “Eroica”), and introduce the new hero composers of today, performing new works by Jim Matheson, A. J. McCaffrey and four local high school student composers!
