CFP 2020: Stanford FRAM - Quad Tac

Watch & Listen

When the pandemic hit, the Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellows changed course from writing large chamber music projects to writing solo etudes for LA Phil musicians. Hear Quad Tac by Stanford Fram performed by Gabriela Peña-Kim.

Program notes

Written for the Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program, Quad Tac is a two-minute piece for solo violin that attempts to convey the mindset of working late at night to make a close deadline while stuck in the confines of one’s home. It is a piece that was written through my own self-reflection during my time writing the piece, attempting to touch on issues that I had to face while writing, such as procrastination, panic, hurrying, as well as finding strides of energy and ideas.
