With drama, lyricism, and invention at every turn, Britten’s Violin Concerto makes you wonder why you don’t hear it more often, especially in the hands of First Associate Concertmaster Nathan Cole. Though Beethoven composed his Second Symphony while agonizing about his growing deafness, the piece itself is filled with energy and optimism.
