After operatic teasers from Wagner, Liszt’s thrilling Second Piano Concerto, and a brief evocation by Saariaho comes Sibelius’ final completed symphony. One of the last pieces he ever wrote, Sibelius packs a world of drama into only one movement. Finnish conductor Eva Ollikainen makes her LA Phil debut with this extraordinary program.
