Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic kick off this series with Mozart’s gorgeous Clarinet Concerto and selections from The Magic Flute. The LA Phil’s new Principal Guest Conductor Susanna Mälkki presides over an evening of Mendelssohn, and beloved violinist Itzhak Perlman presides over an evening of Bach, Brahms and Elgar. A series highlight is Bernstein’s highly dramatic theater piece, Mass, which will feature a huge ensemble led by Dudamel. The series also includes a rare performance of Vaughan Williams’ Sixth Symphony and an all-Schumann evening featuring cellist Sol Gabetta.
