Drew Ninmer

Drew Ninmer is a freelance trumpet player, composer, conductor, contractor and educator in the Los Angeles area. As a freelance musician, he has performed regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera and San Diego Symphony. In addition, Drew has performed with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, LA Chamber Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony and Pasadena Symphony among others. He is also the concertmaster, contractor, assistant conductor, and staff arranger for the Southern California Brass Consortium, a 25 piece professional brass ensemble based in Long Beach.

As a jazz artist, Drew performs actively with his jazz quintet at venues in Los Angeles, Orange County and Palm Springs. He has performed at the Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia with the Ron King Big Band as well as in Japan with the Billy Vaughn Jazz Orchestra. He has also performed with the Bill Holman Big Band, the Clare Fischer Jazz Ensemble, Alan Chan Big Band and many others.

In addition to live work, Drew is also an active studio musician for film and tv, having recorded for dozens of tv shows and films. Originally from Taylorville, Illinois, Drew has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana and a master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. He currently serves as applied professor of trumpet at Biola University and adjunct professor at Long Beach City College, Mt. San Antonio College, Fullerton College, and El Camino College.
