JOYCE DIDONATO was the winner of the 2002 Richard Tucker Foundation Award. Her engagements in the 2003/04 season include her San Francisco Opera debut as Rosina in a new production of The Barber of Seville, a role she also sings in a return engagement with Houston Grand Opera; Idamante in Idomeneo for the Netherlands Opera and at the Aix-en-Provence Festival; and Ascanio in concert performances of Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini with l'Orchestre National de France (to be recorded by Virgin Classics). She also appears in solo recital at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Kansas City's Folly Theater, and at the Wigmore Hall, among others.

In the 2002/03 season DiDonato's appearances included a new production of Dead Man Walking at New York City Opera, the title role in La cenerentola at the Châtelet in Paris, The Cunning Little Vixen at the Royal Opera House under the baton of Sir John Eliot Gardiner, The Barber of Seville at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Adina at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, and The Marriage of Figaro at the Bastille. She was seen in concert with the Seattle Symphony for the Mozart Requiem and with the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris for Les nuits d'été, both under John Nelson; at Carnegie Hall for Bach's Mass in B minor with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, Peter Schreier conducting; and on a European tour with Marc Minkowski and Les Musiciens du Louvre in performances of Les nuits d'été. She has recorded Vivaldi's Gloria with The King's Consort for Hyperion and Handel opera arias and duets for Virgin Classics.

DiDonato is a 2000 ARIA Foundation Award winner, a 1998 George London Foundation winner, and recipient of a Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshanna Foundation. She makes her Hollywood Bowl debut with this performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.
