SHIRLEY KNIGHT has done extensive work in the theater, cinema, and television, both in the United States and in England. She has won the Tony Award, three Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes, the Venice Film Festival Best Actress, the critics’ prize at the Cannes Film Festival, the Joseph Jefferson Award, the Evening Standard Award, and others. She has been nominated for two Tony Awards, two Drama Desk Awards, two Academy Awards, nine Emmys, three Golden Globes, the Helen Hayes Award, and others. She also holds a Doctor of Fine Arts degree. Knight began as an opera singer and is delighted to be singing in tonight’s performance. Recent theater work includes the Broadway production of Horton Foote’s The Young Man from Atlanta (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), the off-Broadway and Madison Square Garden productions of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, and The Importance of Being Earnest and Blithe Spirit at the Pasadena Playhouse. Her next theater production will be at the Old Vic in London.

Films soon to be released include The House on a Hill, Seventy-Five Degrees in July, The Center of the World, Angel Eyes, The Salton Sea, and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Her most recent television credits include the film My Louisiana Sky for Showtime.
