Jenni Bank

A recent winner of the District and Regional Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Jenni Bank participates in the Semi-final round at the Metropolitan Opera in March of 2015. She was born in Johannesburg, South African and raised in Binghamton, New York where she received musical training at an early age. In the Opera Theatre of St. Louis production of Unsuk Chin’s Alice in Wonderland, Opera News described her performance of The Duchess in its American première as “a standout”, proclaiming she possessed a “luscious, dramatic voice and plenty of stage humor”.

Recent and upcoming engagements include: Florentine Opera as Mary (Der fliegende Holländer); a reprises of The Duchess (Alice in Wonderland) with the Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester in Norway with additional performances in Oslo; and, Samira (The Ghosts of Versailles) and Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) with Wolf Trap Opera in 2015.

She has performed The Witch (Hänsel und Gretel) and Azucena (Il trovatore) with Opera in the Heights; the Old Lady (Candide) with Amarillo Opera, Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) with Florentine Opera and Filippyevna (Eugene Onegin) with Opera Company of Middlebury; guest artist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic as The Duchess (Alice in Wonderland); Mrs. Peachum (The Threepenny Opera) with Amarillo Opera; and Golde (Fiddler on the Roof) with Ash Lawn Opera.

Among her other performances include Dame Quickly (Falstaff), Dryad (Ariadne auf Naxos), Frugola (Il tabarro), La Zia Principessa (Suor Angelica), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Martha (Faust), Giulietta and La voix de la mere (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Miss Todd (The Old Maid and the Thief), Dreite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Ruth (Pirates of Penzance), Buttercup (H.M.S. Pinafore) and the Fairy Queen (Iolanthe). She has participated in numerous prestigious Young Artist programs including; Seattle Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Opera New Jersey.
