About this Artist
Liseth Amaya is a multidisciplinary Painter and illustrator born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She received her BFA in Fine art from Central St. Martins, London. As a child of immigrant parents from El Salvador and family from Mexico and Honduras, her work touches on the complexities of citizenship, identity, and freedom of mobility. She reflects on the inaccurate representations of Central Americans and the often-negative portrayals that are embedded within mainstream cultural, political, and social institutions. Instead, she demonstrates their multifaceted identities within their own socio-cultural contexts. She has lived and worked in London, Paris and Oaxaca. Her cross-cultural connections allow her to reflect on global migration seen through the lens of her own family’s fragmented and complex history.
Liseth’s work can be found in various private collections in Los Angeles, El Salvador, New York, London, Italy, Mexico and France. Her work has been exhibited In Los Angeles, Ingram Collection UK, The Mall Galleries, and Camden art Center.
