About this Artist
Resident choreographer with Grupo Corpo since 2024, Cassi Abranches is one of the leading figures in Brazilian contemporary dance, recognized for her distinctive movement language that fuses musicality, physical energy, and a balance of technical rigor with expressive freedom. She danced with Grupo Corpo from 2001 to 2013 and made her choreographic debut in 2009.

Her work also extends beyond the stage—she designed movement for the film Rio, I Love You and served as movement director for the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. From 2021 to 2023, she was artistic director of Balé da Cidade de São Paulo. In 2025, she co-created Piracema with Rodrigo Pederneiras, marking Grupo Corpo’s 50th anniversary and her return as resident artist.
