Pianist Do-Hyun Kim is a captivating, powerful artist establishing himself for displaying incredible depth of artistry in a wide range of repertoire. He won the second prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of contemporary piano music at the Ferruccio Busoni Competition 2021. In the same year, he was awarded the grand prize at the Chicago International Music Competition. After presenting him with a prize for best performance in the Semi Final round of the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, he was invited to return to St. Petersburg to perform on a special winners’ concert this past season, and Yamaha invited him to appear at a “Rising Stars Pianists Concert” in Tokyo. In April this year(2022), he performed with Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra at the “Korean Orchestra Festival” at Seoul Arts Center. Since 2020, when Kumho Cultural Foundation discovered and introduced him in their “Kumho Rising Star Series”, where he gave his first solo recital in Korea, he started to perform more concerts in Korea. His notable past concerts include a solo recital at Mapo Arts Center (October 2022), a collaboration with Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra (November 2022), and another solo recital at the Cosmos Club in Washington D.C. (January 2022).

Winner of First Prize at the 2017 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Mr. Kim debuted at Merkin Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He has also won the Top Prize at the Vendome Prize for the Piano 2017, which was held in Verbier, Switzerland.

Do-Hyun Kim has appeared in concerts at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Mariinsky International Piano Festival, Honest Brook Music Festival, Bravo! Vail Music Festival and New York’s Pianofest, among others.

Originally from Korea, Mr. Kim moved to the United States to earn his Bachelor’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with HaeSun Paik and Sergei Babayan. He continued his studies with Mr. Babayan at The Juilliard School, earning a Master’s in 2019. Afterwards, he moved back to Cleveland Institute of Music, where he finished the Artist Diploma and Professional Studies each in 2021 and 2024. From 2019 to 2021, Do-Hyun was appointed as an artist-in-residence at the Judson Manor, a retirement community in Cleveland, serving his musical talents for the residents there, as well as gaining an active social ability in such environment.

Currently based in Seoul, South Korea, Do-Hyun gives concerts actively in the various forms.

In 2023, Mapo Cultural Foundation appointed him as a M-Artist and gave four concerts throughout the year. He gave two solo recitals each in the Spring and the Winter, a outdoor “Moon Sonata” concert in the Summer and a concerto performance in the Fall. Through this experience, he was able to gain more reputation and recognition among Korean music lovers, and gained more concert engagements afterwards. Some notable performances in 2023 includes a solo recital in San Diego “Musica Vivace Piano Series 2023”, Kumho Artists Series in Seoul, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 with Bucheon Philharmonic, a solo recital “Rachmaninoff Series” at the Seoul Arts Center.

In 2024, he had a solo matinee concert in Salle de l’institute, Orleans, France, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with Gangnam Symphony Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center, and a solo recital at the IBK Chamber Music Hall at the same venue.

In chamber music area, Do-Hyun collaborates with some acclaimed musicians. in 2023, he visited Kronberg Academy in Germany and performed with cellist Jaemin Han and Hana Chang. In 2024, he joined the project of flutist Yubeen Kim, who is currently a principle flutist at the San Francisco Orchestra and the faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory, making his debut CD album called “Poeme” on Sony Classical. Do-Hyun appeared as a duo partner and gave a concert in the Summer of 2024 in Korea. Do-Hyun also appeared in the National Symphony Orchestra’s chamber music series and performed Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21 and Quintet for wood wind and piano.

Do-Hyun is supported by some big companies in Korea, such as “Noodle Lovers“ and SK Hynix with scholarships, performance opportunities, and teaching experience.
