La Muchacha is a manifesto born directly from the tradition of Nueva Canción in Latin America (protest song). Delving into the nuances of various Colombian rhythms, and layering her piercing-yet-sweet voice on top of it, La Muchacha’s songs have become anthem-like in Colombia. Exploring themes such as community resilience, environmental awareness, deep love, and beyond, La Muchacha has taken her captivating song around the world- bringing it to LA for the first time ever.
The musical project of La Muchacha is a sonic manifesto born from an exploration of her people’s musical roots, embracing Latin American origins and a deep connection to the tradition of singer-songwriters. With the intimate format of voice and guitar, La Muchacha delves into the nuances of Colombian rhythms, blending popular, folkloric, and contemporary world music elements into a vibrant and innovative sound. She has successfully shared her four albums—Polen, Cancionescrudas, Más canciones crudas, and Los ombligos—throughout Colombia and the world, performing at festivals, theaters, and cultural markets such as Músicas al Parque, Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, BOmm, Circulart, Mapas in Tenerife, and Teatro Colón. In 2021, 2022,and 2023, Isabel embarked on three European tours, captivating audiences in Spain with concerts in Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In 2024, she expanded her reach with her firstperformances in France and Portugal, alongside a nine-city tour across the United States. Thanks to the support of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Fund, she performed in major cities such as New York and participated in renowned events like the Chicago International Music Festival. Her music, released through the independent label In-Correcto and distributed by cultural producer PopUp Art, explores themes such as the defense of life, community resilience, territory, love, and the clever interplay of humor and satire.
