  • Program Features Celebrated Film Music Composers Discussing
    Their Experiences in Hollywood

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, AT 7:30 PM

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association explores the workings of the film music industry with The Entertainment Capital of the World, a program in the Philharmonic's Inside/Outside seminar series, on Wednesday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Walt Disney Concert Hall's BP Hall. This program, the fifth in the series, explores the competitive world of film music and features composers Cynthia Millar (Crazy in Love and Three Wishes) and James Newton Howard (The Sixth Sense), who will be joined by Academy Award-winning film composer Elmer Bernstein (Far from Heaven).

Musicians from all over the world come to Los Angeles to compose and play for film and television. In Los Angeles, dreams are pursued in a heady mix of high (and low) finance, extraordinary creative talent, and good weather. The three celebrated film composers featured talk about their experiences in Hollywood and the music that is an integral part of the industry.

The Entertainment Capital of the World is the fifth of seven Wednesday evenings that comprise the Los Angeles Philharmonic's new Inside/Outside seminar series. The series continues with Urban/Suburban: Los Angeles in the 1950s and '60s on April 21; and Blurring the Boundaries on May 19. Tickets for each Inside/Outside seminar are $10 and can be purchased at the Walt Disney Concert Hall Box Office, online at laphil.com, or by calling 323.850.2000.
