The Hollywood Bowl, in cooperation with the Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) Foundation and the Hallmark Channel, present the first-ever “Don’t Touch that Remote... It's T.V. Night at the Bowl” on Sunday, August 26, 7:30 p.m., at the Hollywood Bowl. This Celebration of Television Music is hosted by Emmy Award-winner Mary Tyler Moore and features Principal Conductor John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Special guests for the evening include Kelsey Grammer, Jason Alexander, Emmy Award-winning composer and conductor Mike Post (“NYPD Blue,” “Law & Order,” “Hill Street Blues” and “Rockford Files”), Jane Krakowski, Florence Henderson, Connie Stevens, Johnny Crawford, Ja'Net Dubois, Lauren Frost, Robert Guillaume, Shirley Jones, Amy Keys, Fred White, and the Faithful Central Bible Church Choir, among others.

The program spotlights some of the most recognized theme songs and scores in television history. Under the baton of Mauceri, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performs throughout the two-and-a-half hour event, which features footage of historic programs with music by some of television’s most respected composers. Program highlights include a Lonesome Dove suite by composer Basil Poledouris; a "Variety Show Duet" with Jason Alexander and Jane Krakowski; a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Hallmark Hall of Fame; a Mike Post T.V. theme medley (conducted by Post) with music from The Rockford Files, The Greatest American Hero, Law and Order, L.A. Law, NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues and more; a Victory at Sea suite created by John Mauceri and narrated by Robert Guillaume; a Star Trek suite with film clips plus music by Alexander Courage, Jerry Goldsmith and Dennis McCarthy; a "TV Theme Song Audience Sing-a-Long" (including The Mickey Mouse Club, The Addams Family, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, The Jeffersons, and others; a West Wing suite by W. G. Snuffy Walden; and a memorial tribute. Most of the suites were created for this event by their original composers.

Communications, Educational Programs and Services which include Student Internship Program, College Faculty Seminars, College Television Awards, and Visiting Professionals Program. Other programs include the ATAS/UCLA Collection of Historic Television, and the ATAS/USC Foundation Library.

JOHN MAUCERI’s accomplishments extend nationally and internationally, not only to the world's greatest opera companies and symphony orchestras, but also to the musical stages of Broadway and Hollywood, before large television and radio audiences, and in recording studios and major publications. Mauceri has received substantial recognition for his work as one of the principal forces behind the movement to preserve two of America's great art forms, the American musical and music for the American cinema. He is equally at home conducting artists ranging from Plácido Domingo (during a live broadcast of the Grammy Awards) to Madonna (with whom he recorded the soundtrack to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita), from Garth Brooks (an inaugural inductee into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame) to the Smashing Pumpkins (for the 1996 MTV Music Awards).
