The Hollywood Bowl Museum celebrates one of Los Angeles’ most storied landmarks – a venue that has shaped our global cultural heritage, helping define music and performance for over a century.

The museum opened in 1984 in what was originally the Tea Room. It was completely rebuilt as the Edmund D. Edelman Hollywood Bowl Museum in 1996 to provide a historical context for this iconic venue.

Located at the bottom of Peppertree Lane, the Hollywood Bowl Museum is the first building visitors see upon entering the grounds from Highland Avenue.

The museum is a celebration of one of Los Angeles’ most historic landmarks – a venue that has played a major role in music, entertainment and has helped shape the careers of some of the most famous performers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

You are invited to visit the museum before concerts to enhance and enrich your Bowl experience. Admission is free.

The Bowl Walk is a fun, self-guided tour for visitors of all ages. It features 10 photographic displays throughout the property, presenting information on the cultural events, history, natural environment, and architecture of the Hollywood Bowl, a Los Angeles historic landmark. The walk is a great option for visitors who do not have a large enough group for a docent-led tour, who enjoy self-led tours, or who are visiting the Bowl on days the museum is closed.

The Hollywood Bowl is the first amphitheater in California to be certified as an Audubon Society Cooperative Sanctuary for its efforts to conserve resources and promote conservation. To learn more about the Hollywood Bowl's Green Initiatives here.

Group Tours

The Hollywood Bowl Museum provides FREE tours for groups of 10 or more, immersing you in a unique, behind-the-scenes experience.

Complete with a walk backstage and on-stage, when circumstances allow, the tour also takes you on a visit to the Museum as well as to the top of the seating area for a picturesque view of the Hollywood sign. Strolling the grounds during the day, when the Bowl is empty of concertgoers, will give you an unfettered view of the venue’s grand scale.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays during the busy concert season (June to September), visitors are able to watch a rehearsal by the LA Philharmonic or Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, instead of going backstage. If this is of interest, please mention it when booking your tour.

The Hollywood Bowl Museum hosts a permanent exhibit on the history of the Bowl and features a second floor with a temporary exhibit. Museum guests of all ages can participate in exploring the historical and cultural context of the Hollywood Bowl, the musicians that performed there, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

In the event of rain, museum and Bowl tours will be cancelled.
