PABLO HERAS-CASADO enjoys an unusually varied conducting career – encompassing the great symphonic and operatic repertoire, historically-informed performance and cutting-edge contemporary scores – and has already developed a special rapport with a number of soloists, orchestras and opera houses.

The 2012/13 season sees him give return performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago and San Francisco symphony orchestras, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, and the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra. He gives debut performances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Münchner Philharmoniker, the Spanish National Orchestra and Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Opera performances include Rigoletto at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Les Vêpres siciliennes at Oper Frankfurt, and Il postino at Teatro Real, Madrid, featuring Plácido Domingo.

In December 2011, Heras-Casado was announced as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York, beginning a four-year term including an annual season at Carnegie Hall. Past seasons have also seen him make important appearances with orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Cleveland Orchestra. In 2010 he performed for the first time at New York's Mostly Mozart Festival, while 2012 marked his debut at the Salzburger Festspiele.

In 2013/14, Harmonia Mundi will release Heras-Casado's recording of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2, Lobgesang, with Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, in addition to a disc featuring Freiburger Barockorchester in Schubert's Symphonies Nos. 3 & 4.

Recognized also for his work with contemporary music, Heras-Casado’s 2013 performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic feature Peter Eötvös' Concerto for Violin and Chamber Orchestra, DoReMi, performed by Midori, as well as the composer's operatic setting of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer-winning Angels in America. A laureate of the 2007 Lucerne Festival conductors' forum, he has returned twice to co-direct the festival's Academy on the personal invitation of Pierre Boulez and Peter Eötvös. He also regularly performs with Ensemble Intercontemporain and Klangforum Wien.

Heras-Casado is the holder of the Medalla de Honor of the Rodriguez Acosta Foundation, of which previous recipients include Manuel de Falla and Andrés Segovia. In February 2012, he was awarded with the Golden Medal of Merit by the Council of Granada, his hometown, recognizing the already outstanding achievements of his young career. His 2011 DVD recording of Kurt Weill’s Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny from Teatro Real received the Diapason d'Or.
